Getting started
How do I start?
Book a free class for Grade 9. Grade 9 classes start the week of 9 November. Students in Grades 10 to 12 are welcome too: register, and a course starts as soon as five families have signed up for it and a teacher is confirmed. Grades 5 to 8 are now reserving for January. Reserve a place. Nothing is charged until your class is confirmed.
When does it start?
Classes begin the week of 9 November 2026. A class starts once its teacher is in place and five paying families have confirmed. We'll tell you at least a week before the planned start, and nothing is charged until your class is confirmed.
What happens in the free first class?
Your first week is free: both classes and your first weekly email. You pay only if you continue into week 2. Payment is due before that second week's weeknight lesson.
Will it raise my child's mark?
We won't promise a mark, a grade or a test score. What we will tell you, in writing each week, is what your child is working on and what to ask at home.
Can we join after week 1?
Yes. A family may join from any week of the term. That family's own first week is the free one. The first report names the foundations to catch up on, and you get copies of earlier weeks' practice sheets and answer keys. The first month's fee is prorated to the weeks you attend, from the second week on.
How do I choose a math program?
Here are four questions to ask any program, and our answer to each.
- Will the teacher hold OCT membership and a current vulnerable sector check? Yes. Every class is taught by an Ontario Certified Teacher with a math qualification and a current vulnerable sector check.
- How many students are in the class? Up to 10 students.
- Will you tell me in writing what is actually wrong? Every week, from the teacher, with what they saw. No mark, and no comparison with another child.
- Is Grade 9 written to MTH1W, and taught to a plan? Yes. Term 1 is number and algebra, including linear relations. The sequence is set before the term.
What if a class doesn't fill?
A class starts once its teacher and five paying families are confirmed. Nothing is charged before then. Below that, the class does not start. Your seat holds for the next term at the rate you reserved, or you can withdraw owing nothing.
The classes
How often are the classes?
Two 45-minute live classes a week. First is the lesson. Second takes up the work.
What times are the classes?
One lesson session on a weeknight, one take-up session on a weekend, every week. Times are confirmed at enrolment.
How does my child join a class?
Classes run on Google Meet. We send the link to parents, not students, once your class is confirmed. Parents are welcome to sit in on any class.
What happens in the weekend class?
It starts with a quick problem that shows where each child got stuck, and the rest of the class works on exactly that. Then you get a weekly email.
What if my child misses a class?
The practice sheet and the weekly email cover what was taught, so they can catch up. Missed classes aren't refunded or made up.
Do you help with tonight's homework?
Our classes work on the earlier ideas underneath the homework. That is usually why the homework is hard.
Reports and privacy
Can I see a report before I decide anything?
Yes. There is an example on the How it works page. It is an illustration of the format, not a real child.
Is my child scored or graded?
No. No score, no percentage, no letter grade, and no comparison with another child.
Does my child need an account?
No. Children have no logins, no passwords and no profiles.
What happens to my child's data?
See privacy for the detail, including what changes if you enrol.
Price and payment
What is Early Enrolment?
Limited to 30 Early Enrolment places, at $229 a month, locked for as long as the student stays. After those places the term is $299 a month. Or $699 paid upfront, saving $198 on the standard rate. The upfront option isn't available at the Early Enrolment rate.
When do I pay?
Your first week is free: both classes and your first weekly email. You pay only if you continue into week 2. Payment is due before that second week's weeknight lesson. We email an invoice once your class is confirmed to run. Until card payment is set up, that invoice is paid by Interac e-Transfer.
How do I withdraw?
Email hello@chronoslearn.com. The full terms, including refunds, are in the written terms you receive before your child's first class.
I have two children. How much is it?
Each child pays for their own seat. The price is the same for every grade.
How does referral work?
Launch offer: bring a family, and your child gets a month free. Bring three, and the whole term is free. They get $50 off too. For families who enrol by 31 January 2027. Each free month is earned once the family you referred has paid for two months. Ask us for your link.
Grades and courses
What is the Grade 9 class?
Ontario Grade 9 math is MTH1W. We start with what the course assumes you already know, then teach Grade 9 number and algebra from there. The Grade 9 course.
Do the new Ontario exam rules affect us?
From this school year, the EQAO Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics counts for 20% of the final course mark. Semester 1 students write in January.
What about other grades, or other subjects?
Head Start for Grades 5 to 8 starts the week of 4 January 2027. Grades 10 to 12 open by demand. To maintain our standards for OCT-certified instruction and small classes, we deliberately launch one specialized program at a time.
Teachers and safety
Who teaches the class?
Every class is taught by an Ontario Certified Teacher with a math qualification and a current vulnerable sector check. Teach with us.
What if the teacher leaves?
We arrange a replacement with the same qualifications and tell families the same day; if we can't, fees stop.
Who runs ChronosLearn?
ChronosLearn is operated by Ethical Tech Solutions, Thornhill, Ontario. Every class is online. There is no classroom.
Are you a tutoring centre?
