Is Grade 9 written to MTH1W, and taught to a plan?
Our answer Yes. Term 1 is number and algebra, including linear relations. The sequence is set before the term.
If math suddenly got hard this year, it usually didn't start this year.
A gap that was easy to work around earlier turns up as a wrong answer in a Grade 9 ratio question. More practice on this year's topic often doesn't help, because the gap is older. Finding it does.

One half plus one third becomes two fifths: tops added, bottoms added. It gets by, mostly.

The same habit hides inside ratios, rates and percentages, and looks like a Grade 9 problem.
Grades 10 to 12
Algebra with fractions in it, then functions. The old habit is still there, under newer work. Those grades are a waitlist.

Written from what the teacher saw. A five-minute problem opens the weekend class, and the teacher notes how each child is thinking, not just whether the answer was right. That is what the weekly report is built from.
Causes, not marks. No percentages, no grades, and we never compare your child to anyone.
Honest when it's early. If we haven't seen a clear pattern yet, the report says so.

Adds the tops and the bottoms
Your child adds fractions the way they add whole numbers: top plus top, bottom plus bottom. One half plus one third becomes two fifths. The answer is smaller than the half they started with, which is the giveaway.

How a week works
Weeknight: the lesson. Then a practice sheet at home. The weekend class starts with a quick problem that shows where each child got stuck, and works on exactly that. Then you get a written note.

On screen or printed, with an answer key. Your child checks their own work. Nothing is marked or scored.
- Weekend class
45 minutes. It opens with a short live problem that shows where the thinking stopped. The rest of the class works on exactly that.
- Your written note
From the teacher's notes, read and approved before it reaches you. What they got stuck on, what the teacher saw, and one question to ask at home. Never a score.
Times are confirmed at enrolment. No class from 21 December to 1 January. The term runs longer by that pause.

Questions parents ask
Will it raise my child's mark?
We won't promise a mark, a grade or a test score. What we will tell you, in writing each week, is what your child is working on and what to ask at home.
When does it start?
Classes begin after Thanksgiving. A class starts once its teacher is in place and five paying families have confirmed. We'll tell you at least a week before the planned start, and nothing is charged until your class is confirmed.
What happens in the free first class?
Your first week is free: both classes and your first written note. You pay only if you continue into week 2. Payment is due before that second week's weeknight lesson.
Can we join after week 1?
Yes. A family may join from any week of the term. That family's own first week is the free one. The first report names the foundations to catch up on, and you get copies of earlier weeks' practice sheets and answer keys. The first month's fee is prorated to the weeks you attend, from the second week on.
What about Grades 10 to 12, and Grades 5 to 8?
They are a waitlist. A class opens once five families are waitlisted and a teacher is available. Not a fixed date. The price is the same, per child. Head Start, for Grades 5 to 8, begins the week of 4 January 2027. Join the waitlist.
I have two children. How much is it?
Each child pays for their own seat. The price is the same for every grade.
